I think the next X-men will be a prequel involving either Wolverine or Magneto, maybe both. Here are some links pointing to that.

In Hollywood, the way a franchise works is that if it makes money, they will continue making sequels. Whether they deserve to be made or not.

X-Men 3 is a hit, only someone extremely niave would think they're not going to milk an X-Men 4 out of this franchise. They will continue milking it until they grind it into the ground and it is no longer making $$$. So there may very well be an X-Men 5. You keep paying, they'll keep making them. Can you resist?

Well how the hell is Fox going to produce them, when Marvel is funding its own movie studio to produce movies for all their licenses from now on (X-Men included). Makes me wonder if Rattner was the final straw for Marvel deciding to go in-house with all their movies.

well, Kelsey Grammer had some (if not all) the comedic lines in "The (Penultimate) Last Stand", and they worked especially well as Beast.

Also, if it looks like they can make more big bucks, the studio will have the writers design a plot-escape out of any otherwise "terminal" issues that occurred in this movie, that would otherwise prevent or seriously hamper the consistency of a further sequel.

I think Sawyer from Lost would make an excellent Gambit. Plus, they'd probably make even more money with the girlfriend's of X-Men fans wanting to go see the actor too.

Sawyer from Lost was (supposedly) offered the role of gambit for X3 but turned it down cause it was too similar to the sawyer character and he doesn't want to be typecast/pigeonholed.

I knew they were going to make a fourth by the seven second "coda" as mentioned in a digg story about X3. Gambit would be freakin awesome to see as long as they don't put Jubilee(spelling?) in it, she has the worst power ever. I wonder when Apocalypse, Sinister, Bishop, and Cable come in...

I'm fine with it, as long as they don't make it retarded, like adding nipples to the costumes (like batman's)

Wait, what's so great about Bryan Singer? Weren't you all bitching about how he butchered the X-Men universe with his first two X-Men movies back when they came out??? I think the only reason people want Singer back is simply because he was replaced, and don't like change.

Or was I thrown into some Marvel alterverse where those who bashed Signer in the past now praised him?? I'll bet you guys also think Joel Schmaker should have done Batman Begins, too.

^^ First Wolverine has to rip off his shirt. It's not an X-Men movie without uninterrupted, pure shirtless Hugh Jackman footage. Singer preferred him with chest hair, though (the new director made him shave it off).

Are you sure? X3 already had too many characters and too many stories to be used effectively. It was missing something that Singer had. A sort of very smooth transition from high to low, and great pacing besides. Gosh, I'm a film student and I can't find the right words, I suck.

i haven't been reading too much of the new stuff. which parts were taken from Astonishing X-Men? I thought this whole movie was old plots from the comics and cartoon from years ago, except in the comics it was Apocalypse that developed the cure and Rogue took it so she could be with Gambit, not Iceman. plus Juggernaught and Phoenix weren't mutants in the original, but that was a change that actually helped i think.

i hope for X4 we get Emma Frost, Bishop, and Gambit. would also be nice to have brief cameo for Forge.

Hell, the comic series has run from before I was born (although it took me only a year's reading to realise that the plot loops back on itself fractally with a period of a few months). There's no reason to quit churning them out like an assembly line until the sales drop. Detail scan the actors now, and in a decade or two it won't matter they're going grey or moved on, the tech will be up to doing them in CG. And on and on, until the world ends or the audience realises they're being had.

Almost everything about X3 was weak. X4 won't be able to use half of the crucial characters. No Rogue, Magneto, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Professor X...

    Spoilers below:

Top ten dumb things about X3:

    10. Rogue telling her name
    9. The surprise at the end
    8. Phoenix's back story
    7. Juggernaut
    6. Iceman and Pyro's fight at the end. Did you see all the fog? Pyro wouldn't have stood for a second.
    5. They managed to make Kitty Pryde boring and uninteresting.
    4. Mistique
    3. Rogue taking the 'cure'
    2. Wolverine not smoking throughout the entire movie
    1. The list of characters that appeared in the credits, that were NOT in the movie. Psyloche? Jubilee? OMEGA FUCKING RED?

Top 5 good things about the movie:

    5. Mystique was super hot
    4. Juggernaut actually saying 'I'm the juggernaut bitch.' Go internet!
    3. SOAP trailer and the dude who called out "Motherfucking snakes on a motherfucking plane" and the shocked gasps of the parents in the theatre.
    2. When Beast actually said a line that could've come from the comics.
    1. Cyclops getting killed off early so that I didn't have to listen to him be a whiney bitch the whole movie.

Wait about 3 more minutes of battling and the sky is clear and the moon is out, I just wish the director / artist could have made up his/her mind.

      Nitpick a little more, fanboy.

      10. Rogue telling her name
      - Why would this bother enough to actually list it? It was a character moment, deal with it.

      9. The surprise at the end
      - I thought it was a nice touch, thought it would have been better if SPOILER Charles would have moved a chess piece in response to Erik's move /SPOILER

      8. Phoenix's back story
-Could have been done a little better, but the flashback was pretty well done.

      7. Juggernaut
      - Outside of his dumb dialogue, which just about every character suffered from, he was done just fine.

      6. Iceman and Pyro's fight at the end. Did you see all the fog? Pyro wouldn't have stood for a second.
      - Are you Pyro's brother? How do you know how much fog he can take? I wasn't aware we were dealing with an expert in mutant fog resilience.

      5. They managed to make Kitty Pryde boring and uninteresting.
      - She was like 10 years old, you want her whipping out quippy one liners like everyone else?

      4. Mistique
      - What did you want to see her do, change into more/less people?

      3. Rogue taking the 'cure'
      - I don't think she took the cure.

      2. Wolverine not smoking throughout the entire movie
      - Riiiiiiight

      1. The list of characters that appeared in the credits, that were NOT in the movie. Psyloche? Jubilee? OMEGA FUCKING RED?
      - Somebody else already called you on this, but they were all in the movie.

Try to come up with some real points next time.

      @forumreader

I agree, some people will take movies fairly obviously tailored for the general public (See: Any dialouge in the entire movie) and nitpick them. It doesn't help the original poster couldn't even see through the fact that Rogue obviously didn't take "the cure". It's called foreshadowing, if you saw the ending of X3, imagine what they can do with that Rogue moment! (Ex. The child with the power to "Cure" other mutants power was near, or perhaps harnessed in some way so that she could have her cake and eat it too.)

Not to mention it was in the first film. She tells it to Wolverine. The importance of it here was to stress that when she came back, she will have had taken the cure.

Maybe they'll bring back the original music. That confused me. You just don't change the theme music in the middle of a movie series. That's like changing the theme music of Star Wars completely between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I would have understood some different scores with the main score being in there, but they just changed it completely.

I remember watching the interview on IESB.net where Rothman mentioned that X-Men: The Last Stand was the culmination of "this" trilogy and that there is the certain possibility of future installments.

If a $107 million dollar opening and possible $250-$300 million finish isn't enough of a reason to make X-Men 4 (with the young X-Men and other characters), then nothing will be.

The movie achieved a few things to make a interesting couple spin off/sequel movies.
    1. Its a great set up for the whole Cable alternate earth Jean Grey(Madeline Pryde) and Scott Summers story line
    2. The whole Xmen getting kidnapped(hopefully[just this once] they wouldn't use the comic idea of Krakoa(?) the living island thus forming the New Xmen.
    3. A freaking sweet X-factor movie could be made.(Go Jamie Madrox)
4.They get a new director that gets Juggernaut right

The only way I see there being a way for an xmen 4 to work is for them to move on to the other sagas. Such as the Apocalypse saga since they've already done the Pheonix saga and such. Or they could do the new x-men like Rojo just said which are current comic characters.

The movie didn't live up to the last two in my opinion. All the Dell and Mercedes advertising started to bother me a little after I saw my tenth Dell LCD and after they over emphasized the new GL. I also loved how it's suddenly night when Magneto puts down the bridge...Another thing was that the Mercedes GL turned it's headlights on as soon as it suddenly became night, since the terrified people in the car had nothing better to do than turn the headlights on...

If you look closely after the battle, you'll notice all the other cars on the bridge apparently had this automatic headlight turning on feature too. These cars on the bridge are, of course, the same cars that Magneto had already used as ammunition during the fight. I honestly don't try to notice little errors when I watch movies, but whoever patched together those sequences did a piss poor job.

The two main things that bugged me about X3 were:

    1. No one seemed effected by Scott's death, even Jean, who in the comics ends up destroying a universe out of guilt for killing him -- although to be frank the comic that comes from was What If #27, What if Phoenix Had Not Died?

    2. Phoenix didnt have her badass look from the comics, the crimson and molten gold costume wiuth the phoenix emblem, and fiery eyes, also they never explained how she can come back to life, hence the name Phoenix

They made her look more like night of the living dead than how i ever saw her from the comics as Phoenix or Dark Phoenix.

Dude you are 100% right, Josh Hollow would be absolutely perfect as Gambit!!!!! I think some fans are still forgetting about a major character also and that would be "Havok". When they bring back Cyclops, Havok has got to be introduced. I agree with a lot of people too that Cyclops is pretty whiney and he's constantly getting his ass kicked!!?? He needs to be lot darker and a bad ass. A good actor for Forge would be Jimmy Smits and obviously they're going to have to introduce Banshee in the next movie too because of Moira Mctaggert. As far a Magneto movie, Magnetos is a great character but he doesn't deserve his own movie but if they do it anyway,Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch have to be in it. A Wolverine movie would be awsome but the cameos must be right, such as :some members of Alpha Flight especially Puck & Sasquash,The Hulk, all Weopon X Projects and way better acting Sabertooth with a better costume and eye contacts. The Hand,Silver Samarai,& Lady Deathstrike will obviously have to be in it

But X2 had the Mazda RX8 (When Wolverine escapes the school with Iceman and Rouge) and LG monitors when Stryker is looking at all of the crap in his his underground military/experimental base.

Did any of you people who dugg it actually read it, or just digg it on the strength of the tiny description along with the headline? The "article" doesn't even mention anything new. As far as I know, this news certainly hasn't officially been confirmed just yet, even though it's expected, given that it was stated that plans to go ahead with X-Men IV would commence if X-Men III was a success (which, financially, it certainly has been proving to be).

IGN has said that X-Men 4 will once again be Bryan Singer's project and It will not be X-Men 4 a continuation in the series, but Ultimate X-Men instead. And if they live true to the comic's, this is one time where i'll be pissed. No Gambit in the first 3 movies and Gambit isn't even a mainstay character in the Ultimate X-Men comics. I'll probably never see Gambit come out of an X-Men movie by FOX. Here's the quote from IGN and the link.

"Go see the film, then look for Bryan Singer's take on what he would have done with X3 when he pens Ultimate X-Men either later this year or early 2007." - http://comics.ign.com/articles/710/710031p2.html (Last paragraph of the article).

"Now that "X-Men: The Last Stand" is out, Fox Head Tom Rothman has confirmed that there will indeed be an X-Men 4, and probably more after that as well."

Didn't he read the article? This quote from Tom Rothman is from January! Has nothing to do with the performance of X-Men: The Last Stand.

Why do people post articles they haven't even bothered to read?

I hope this doesn't happen. It's time to let this franchise go. X3 wasn't nearly as good as X3 imho. THey're already making a Magneto prequel, and a Wolverine movie.

Star Trek called, it wants its "run the franchise into the ground" routine back.

I think that the movie was okay. It had some pretty good parts. I think that Storm rocked in this. I think that some things could have been handled a little better however.
    1. I really really wish that they had continued with the firey effect for Phoenix like we saw at the end of the X2. That would have been so cool. The 'Phoenix rising' event could have been fantastic had it been handled a little better.
    2. What could have really kicked butt with the battle between Phoenix and the Professor was if they had gone Anime and taken the battle to the astral plane (Phoenix vs Onslaught) kinda like they did for Oren in Kill Bill. (I woulda peed my shorts from joy had they done that). I liked the long hair and the Dark Phoenix transition.
    3. I also think that the Jean and Scott story ended a bit too quickly. I know the storyline from the comics cannot be exactly duplicated but these guys are mainstay characters. So many key tangential stories have been done in the comics that are based on these two. The Apocolypse, Sinister/Dark Queen (Madelyne Prior), Cable stories are some of these.
If there is another movie I will enjoy it. I hope that they can top this one. Well gotta go break out my Dark Phoenix trade paberback...

How come they don't hire Chris Cleremont to write the screenplays? My biggest problem with these X-men movies is that they dumb down the characters and the plot lines too much. X3 was fun, but still a big letdown...

So, what could we expect from X4: Xavior comes back (full powers and the ability to walk), Magneto and many others would be slowly getting their powers back, so we could introduce new villians.

Might I suggest Mr. Sinister (Jean and Scott are (surprise) alive and well in a cloning tube somewhere - plus here's your Gambit cameo), Appocolypse (Focus on Angel's transformation to Archangel and the other horsemen), Mojo (Dazzler and Longshot anyone?). Hell - Even the Shadow King would make for a good villian and now that Muir island has been introduced...

You know - they should give me a call...

X-4 was confirmed by fox and yes they are still doing magneto and wolverine movies.
You know what would be great for X-4? Well for starters.. the cure backfires. I mean come on, in the movie when you went by the kid you couldn't use your powers, but when you moved away from him your powers came back... so I mean it should only be temporary anyway. I would love it if the brought Magneto back and Rogue too (and gave her ALL her powers including the flying and super strength). I would love it if they brought Gambit into the story too. Also I think Jean needs to come back.. somehow.. I dunno how.. but somehow. That would make for an interesting movie.

of course the movie can't absorb the almost infinite storylines shown in the comics and cartoons.
i didn't think they would take the whole phoenix saga to the space point, too science fiction.
after all, phoenix is created when jean grey and other xmen are returning to earth and to cut
a long story short, the pheonix, a fiery space bird/phantom incarnates jean.

the phalanx could make an interesting opponent.

juggernauts powers come from the ruby of cytorak, which he found in a temple whilst he and xavier were fighting during the korean war.

i think an x4 would be great, going off the ending in x3, prof. x will have his new body, magneto amazingly regains his powers, and the x-men reunite(along with some new charecters) to fight apocolypse. imagine how cool of a movie that would be. i could see it now. it would make the perfect ending to x-men. apocolype was always my favorite villain. i was really impressed with x3, it was my favorite x-men so far. and with an ending like it had you know there has to be another.

phoenix never dies... they'll probably use the excuse that phoenix cloned herself from jean grey and put her in the ocean.. or Mr. sinister is trying to make the ultimate mutant by forcing jean+scott to have babies. [hey, he could've snatched them & placed madeline pyor before wolverine + storm came to take jean away]

gamit needs to be in the next one.. maybe they'll do the psylock-jean power swap. there are really endless possibilities, apocolapse, onslaught...

mm btw x3 completely portrayed juggernaut wrongly.. he's NOT a mutant. so leech can't affect him...

btw to all of those who say it's untrue, why would FOX simply allow these cliffhangers [magneto regaining power and xavier being reborn] and NOT even bring up a sequel? [not wolverine or magneto movies]

they might since xmen evolution was canceled right after the good stuff was coming around the corner [phoenix saga]

***May Contain Spoilers*** (If this applies to you go see the movie already!!!)

Okay, I don't have it in me to go on about what was wrong about X-Men 3, but I will point out a few things. Forgive me if I'm repeating anything someone's already said. First off, WHERE'S NIGHTCRAWLER!? Now, I know where Allan Cummings was, and I've heard many of you say he didn't want to do it because of this, or that. What I heard was that he opted out of playing him this time around due to a gay rights play he was involved with. Still his character doesn't even get a mention? Second of all and I am offended by all of you who do not show one ounce of remorse that Mystique was offed in the beginning? How could you not think she's a kick ass character? I can't be the only one who favours the shape shifting villain. By the way Rebecca Romjin, said at the MTV Movie Awards, that it WAS a possibility that X-Men 4 is coming out due to their numbers at the box office opening weekend (though I've heard sales have plummeted to nearly 50%) and she mentioned "we" which means Mystique may return. As many of you have said, Magneto is getting his powers back so hopefully Rogue will too, I hope you all are hoping for Raven Darkholme to come back as well, but as Mystique :)

Whoever said that it should have been Charles to move the chess piece instead of showing him at the end in another body had a brilliant idea that way we could still hope that they'd use Patrick Stewart's body.

I don't have much else to say right now. But I'll think of something...

Hey to theperson who originally came up with the whole Eric moves the chess piece idea. Last time i checked he doesnt have telekenisis so he cant do that. next too all those who so desperatly want gambit in a movie, he could have so easily have been in this one. In the Ultimate series, while bobby and kitty are going through their little love games like in the movie, Rogue is off in vegas with Gambit. anyway eventually Juggernaut (wildly in love with Rogue) chases them down and Gambit and Juggernaut fight until a building falls on Gambit. Gambit near death tells Rogue how much she means to him and then in a final kiss farewell, Rogue absorbs all of Gambit's memories feelings and powers in what seems to be a permanent absorbtion. She then returns to the X-men where she unveils her new trick she can control her powers. Bobby and Rogue get back together and the story ends like it does in X3 anyway. Next they can't do the Apocalypse saga without Mystique anyway so she will have to return if they plan on that storyline. also this would be the perfect time to have a story about how Mystique is Rogue's Adopted mother and NightCrawler's real mother. Magneto in his quest to bring another level 5 mutant to his cause goes after apocalypse only to be out powered and forced to retreat but after everything Apocalypse is unleashed and thus the X-men and the brotherhood will work together to try and take down Apocalypse causing the Bgigest fightany of the marvel movies have had so far. Apocalypse Vs the rest of the World. also with Gambit's character dead he could be reincarnated as Dark Gambit and be one of the 4 horseman. also did any1 notice that one of the 4 horseman is a normal bad guy in the Elektra movie or am i the only one? Anyway getting to the end of my ideas. X-men 4 could end with Apocalypse being released and some of the X-men being killed off.

Tell me what ya think. L8rs

That scene was either showing how weak his power was because before he could move the bridge and now all he could do is barely move a small chess piece or he is getting his powers back cause right when he moved the chess piece the music was like that sinister type. And for all those people wondering why cyclops died so early is because james marsden was filming in the superman movie at the same time.

I'm not completely surprised with this news. If you remember the ending of "X3", they show Magneto moving a metal chess piece. This is obviously referencing that, even though he did take a high dose of the mutant cure, he did not lose his powers. Obviously, they used this to build up a sequel.

"X-MEN THE PROFECY"/"X-MEN RESURECTION" .The rise of Apocalypse, all dead mutants return because of the mystic powers being used to resurect Apocalypse which is still incomplete. All major & most minor mutants show up for the fight against the Sentinels all over the world created by Master Mold. Xavier is given his original body again but is unable to walk again until given a special suit made by Forge. Xavier,Magneto, and Jean have nightmares about an Extremely Powerful Being.X-Men and other mutants scattered about the world with other mutants fighting the Sentinels who are giant and human size as they try to find The Master Mold to destroy it but are being overwhelmed until the Sentinels begin to get obliterated by a mystrious legion. The Mutants feel relieved until the legion begins capturing them, its the Army Of Apocalypse. Now humans are being attacked and destroyed by Apocalypse's Army. Apocalypse has been resurected under the control of Mr.Sinister. Apocalypse Searches for his Fourth Horseman which becomes Angel(Archangel). The part of Apocalypse should be played by Michael Clark Duncan. Casting him as King Pin was a mistake .Apocalypse lives up to his name, many have died and been captured.Xavier is contacted by the Shi'ar and told that the answer to be Apocalypse lies in the Astral Plane where he encounters The Shadow King and Defeats him before encountering an Entity but avoids its grasp. Eventually when all the remaing mutants are fighting against Apocalypse,Xavier becomes frustrated and attempts to enter Apocalpyse mind to defeat him with the help of Marvel Girl while Magneto becomes psychiclly linked to Xavier while dying from a sever wound. All three encounter this entity in the Astral Plane but are unable to escape it. It absorbes them and They become Onslaught. They become merging Psychicly and physically with due also to Magneto's power of Magnetism. They become Onslaught and fight Apocalypse which is like being in Armageddon The Final Battle for all mankind. They eventually defeat Apocalypse, return back to their normal selves but Magneto is unable to be revived and dies in Xavier's arms.....Months later at the Mansion or whats left of it,Jean and Scott reflect on their ordeal, Jean says "Scott, there's something really important that I have tell you...."(holding her stomach). Then suddenly a man shows up out of nowhere saying (Jean,Scott we need you,your-------may die. Scott says "who the hell are" The says "My names Bishop, I'm from the future".

i loved the X3 movie and i hope they do an X4. people have been saying that no one was really upset that scott had died. however although Logan told Jean Scott was dead no-one actually knows if he is or not because no-one has found his body...it is possible that she blew him up into tiny pieces. also no one is grieving for him cos he was horrible and big-headed anyway. Another problem with the film is (SPOILER if you havent seen the film) at the beginning it focuses quite a bit on Warren as a child and him growing his wings so it gave me the immpression he would get a big part becsause jean did and it also focused on her and her powers but i was dissappointed because he was only seen a few times in the whole film and didnt really get to say alot. but it was a good film.

    xmen4.1: wolverine's scrap metal
xmen4.2: megneto's power to fiddle with scrap metal
xmen4.3: the return of an unrecognized proffessor
xmen4.4: gambit, banshee etc and etc spilled
xmen4.5: gotta go with ultimate xmen storyline!
xmen4.6: juggernaut's TRUE story (it was a rush on x3 thats why they cut short of my story and made me mutant!)
xmen4.7: cyclops and jean return to make babies and kick ass
xmen4.8: telling the tale of blue mutants (mistique, nightcrawler, beast)
    xmen4.9: peeking at appocalypse
xmen5: it seriously is the last stand now..

you can't tell a tale about xmen in just a 90 minutes movie.. fox has gotta come out with something.. maybe a seasonal thing.. prolly won't end til the 40th season. lol
well long live xmen! since im quite a freak of the comics and the cartoon series.
